In Between

Series of photographs inspired by the dissertation Intimate Notes About Proximity.

Royal College of Art, London, 2019.

The dissertation and images explore intimacy. The entanglement between the personal and the private, which leads us to connect and/or find out more about our inner world. The text begins by stating definitions of what intimacy is, followed by a discussion about the terms “self” and “otherness” in relation to unilateral and bilateral intimacy. This analysis is followed by a series of soliloquies: inner thoughts and feelings that were developed around this subject of study. In essence, this text explores what intimacy with oneself means through concepts such as memory, identity, fantasy, virtuality, and vulnerability.
