Paola Estrella is an artist born in Mexico, based in London. Working across painting, performance, video, and installation, she uses speculative fiction to open space where alternative worldviews can coexist, examining how meaning is formed and how we come to agree on what is real.
She approaches magic as a form of knowledge rather than illusion, exploring the blurred boundaries between the real and the imagined in relation to intimacy, identity, and belief systems. Her work brings ecology, spirituality, and technology into relation, allowing different forms of experience to meet without hierarchy.
Through collaboration and cross-disciplinary exchange, Estrella builds works that resist fixed meanings and instead invite reflection and dialogue. Alongside making, she develops workshops and discursive formats that position artistic practice as a site of thinking, transmission, and collective authorship, translating between disciplines, people, and worldviews.
She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art. Her work has been presented at Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art, the V&A, South London Gallery, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, and exhibited internationally at the Museum of Mexico City, Franz Mayer Museum, New Contemporaries, Saatchi Gallery, and White Cube.
