This publication brings together three years of The Cenote Ring, an ongoing project inspired by the ring of cenotes formed by the asteroid impact in the Yucatán Peninsula. Moving between deep time and the present, the project considers ecological fragility, belief systems and the relationships between bodies, water and the Earth.
The book brings together documentation of the paintings, performances, moving image and sound developed across the project. It includes contributions by Olga Margarita Dávila, reflecting on the residency at Lagos; Tina Sotiriadi of HS Projects; Meike Brunkhorst; and Julia de Fabo. It also traces the project’s wider collaborative development with Costas Kazantzis, Bon Music Vision, Montañera and Gabrielle Venguer, amongst others.
